Photodisintegration of the deuteron with elliptically polarized gamma rays

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. C; (United States)
A theoretical investigation of the angular distribution and polarization of outgoing nucleons in photodisintegration of the deuteron for elliptically polarized gamma rays has been carried out. The results have been expressed in terms of those obtained with linearly polarized gamma rays plus terms which depend upon a parameter chi which can be varied to yield results for circularly or elliptically polarized gamma rays. Numerical results for the Paris potential for low-energy gamma rays are presented. Considerable differences in polarization of the outgoing nucleons for circularly polarized and linearly polarized gamma rays are found.
