The luminescence emitted when crystalline H/sub 2/O ice at 88K is irradiated with pulsed electrons has been subdivided into the following three spectral bands at wavelengths, lambda, and photon yields, G/sub p/, by using the measured dependence of emission intensity on accumulated dose. Band I: lambda = 280-340 nm, G/sub p/ = 2 X 10/sup -7/ photons/100 eV. Band II: lambda = 320-600 nm, G/sub p/ = 1 X 10/sup -5/ photons/100 eV initially. Band III: lambda = 500-600 nm, G/sub p/ = 1 X 10/sup -5/ photons/100 eV.
