Interruption characteristics of double-break type SF/sub 6/ gas circuit breakers and their statistical considerations

In this paper, we calculate the current breaking failure rate of a double-break type circuit breaker taking into account the statistical variation of arc characteristics and compare it with the failure rate of single-break type circuit breaker. The thermal arc model we use in this paper is obtained by modifying Swanson's model. The temperature characteristics of SF/sub 6/ gas conductivity are taken into account so that the interruption characteristics of SF/sub 6/ gas circuit breaker are simulated accurately.
