Seventy-six individual line intensities of the ([nu][sub 5], 2[nu][sub 9]) and ([nu][sub 3], [nu][sub 4]) bands of HNO[sub 3] have been measured using high-resolution Fourier transform spectra recorded in the 450--1,640 cm[sup [minus]1] spectral range. These intensities were then accurately reproduced using a model which takes explicitly into account both Fermi- and Coriolis-type resonances affecting the ([nu][sub 5] = 1, [nu][sub 9] = 2) and ([nu][sub 3] = 1, [nu][sub 4] = 1) interacting upper levels of HNO[sub 3]. Finally, synthetic spectra (line positions and intensities) of the ([nu][sub 5], 2[nu][sub 9]) (11 [mu]m) and ([nu][sub 3], [nu][sub 4]) (7.6 [mu]m) bands of HNO[sub 3] have been generated.
