Once more on the nature of the /ital C/(1480) meson

A critical analysis is made of data on the new vector /ital C/(1480) meson andof various hypotheses regarding the nature of this state. It is shown that attempts to explain the anomalously large value of the ratio/ital R//sub /ital C//=BR(/ital C/(1480)/r arrow//var phi/..pi../sup 0/)/BR/ital C/(1480)/r arrow/..omega pi../sup 0//gt/0.5,which has been established experimentally, in the framework of the modelof an ordinary isovector meson with a quarkstructure(/ital uu/bar ///minus//ital dd/bar//)/(2)/sup 1/2/ turn out to beuntenable. The /ital C/(1480) meson apparently is a cryptoexotic state---a multiquarkor hybrid meson (/vert bar//ital C/>=/vert bar/1/(2)/sup 1/2/)(/ital uu/bar///minus//ital dd/bar//)/ital ss/bar//> or/vert bar//ital C/>=/vert bar/(1/(2)/sup 1/2/)(/ital uu/bar///minus//ital dd/bar//)/ital g/>.
