Bis(tri(N,N-diemthylamido)imidophosphato)phosphite (I) was readily alkylated by alkyl iodides at the oxygen atom of the phosphoryl group to give the novel alkoxy-PH-phosphonium iodides (II). The structure of compound II was confirmed by /sup 31/P and /sup 1/H NMR, and by conversion of the iodide into the phosphite. The starting phosphite was obtained by hydrolyzing bis(tri(N,N dimethylamide)imidophosphato)dimethylamidophosphite (IV). NMR spectra were obtained using the standards hexamethyldisiloxane and 85% H/sub 3/PO/sub 4/.
