Assessment of hydrocarbon emissions from landtreatment of oily sludges

Journal Article · · EPA 7th Annual Research Symposium; (United States)
OSTI ID:5966181
The first phase of a program to assess atmospheric emissions from the land farming of refinery oily sludges has been completed. The project, jointly funded by EPA and API, is surveyed. These wastes have been characterized, and the effects of various parameters on the mass and rate of fugitive hydrocarbon emissions are investigated. Variables considered include sludge type and volatility, soil moisture content, wind speed, relative humidity, and air and soil temperature. Important parameters affecting emission rates were sludge volatility, sludge loading and soil moisture content. (2 diagrams, 7 graphs, 3 tables)
