Statistics for more than 2100 US electric utilities are tabulated for 1981 using data from the American Public Power Association, Energy Information Administration, Rural Electrification Administration, and annual reports of the federal power-marketing agencies. In this 22nd annual directory, major Canadian electric utilities and, for the first time, publicly owned cable-communications systems are listed. Grand totals are given for 1980 and 1981 for utility customers, kWh sales, electric operating revenues, net electric plant investment, installed kW capacity, and kWh generation. For individual utilities, data include identifying information, chief executive officer, generation type, capacity, total generation, annual electric revenues for last available year, and year of establishment.
