This article describes the sources of atmospheric fluoride and the effects of these compounds on the teeth and milk production of livestock. Fluoride poisoning are influenced by intake, duration, age, species, and composition of the diet. Diagnosis of fluorosis is difficult because lesions are discernible only after prolonged accumulation. Milk production is affected as a result of the following: lameness which affects ability to graze; painful chewing which results in reduced food intake. Data show no adverse effects on reproduction.
