We consider a simplified model of an interaction between quarks and gluons with the infrared asymptotic behavior of the gluon propagator D(k/sup 2/)approx.M/sup 2//(k/sup 2/)/sup 2/. It is shown that in a definite covariant gauge a consistent description of the quark and gluon propagators and of the vertex interaction leads to an eigenvalue problem for the magnetic moment and the mass of the quark which has a unique solution in the present model.
