Phase composition of synthetic zirconia corundum

The authors analyze the phase composition of synthetic zirconia corundum and study the influence of additions of aluminum and of calcium and magnesium oxides on it. They conclude that the addition of CaO and MgO for stabilization of ZrO/sub 2/ in synthetic zirconia corundum is inadvisable, as it leads to the formation of further compounds with Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/.
