Verification of NN( /sup 3/P/sub 0/) structure predicted by isobar coupling

The data now accumulated are indicative of an inelastic resonance structure in the /sup 3/P/sub 0/ nucleon-nucleon channel below the N..delta.. threshold. The position, width, and inelasticity of this structure are consistent with a resonance predicted some time ago, as required by the coupling of the NN channel to the N..delta.. and NN((1440) channels.
