Coherent picosecond (ps) light sources in the VUV and XUV wavelength region are attractive for various applications such as spectroscopy and solid state physics. A high power ps-excimer laser system is under construction to generate VUV and XUV coherent light. This laser system consists of three main parts, the generation of ps pulses at the wavelengths of rare-gas halide lasers, multi-stage rare-gas halide amplifiers, the frequency conversion to VUV, XUV region. The basic researches on VUV and XUV lasers can also be performed using this system. The laser system is described.
