Mechanism of radiolytic reduction of nitro-substituted tetrazoliumsalts in isopropanol

The mechanism of the radiolytic transformations of nitro-substituted tetrazolium salts in isopropanol was studied by the methods of pulsed and stationary radiolysis. It was found that solvated electrons and (CH/sub 3/)/sub 2/COH radicals reduce the tetrazolium salt to tetrazolium radicals. Rate constants of the corresponding reacittns were measured, and the absorption spectra of these radicals were recorded.
