Kinetics of consumption of antioxidants during inhibited oxidation in systems containing two phenols

A kinetic analysis of the oxidation of organic compounds inhibited by a mixture of two phenols has been carried out. The kinetic scheme, ignoring the side reactions of phenols and phenoxyl radicals, includes both the conventional reactions (phenol + phenoxyl radical) and the cross-disproportionation reactions of phenoxyl radicals. Expressions were obtained linking the relative rate of consumption of phenol AH, regenerated during the cross-disproportionation, with the oxidation parameters.
