This report was published as part of the Commonwealth-sponsored energy research and development program under the auspices of the Kentucky Department of Energy (KDoE). It covers activities which were conducted by the University of Kentucky Institute for Mining and Minerals Research (IMMR) and funded by KDoE and other governmental and industrial sources from July 1, 1981 to June 30, 1982. The IMMR operates the Kentucky Center for Energy Research Laboratory (KCERL) in Lexington, Kentucky, and sponsors other energy-related activities throughout the Commonwealth. Topics include coal and oil shale resource assessment, coal and oil shale utilization and conversion technologies, materials engineering, mining technology, and reclamation.
