Pulsed CO/sub 2/ laser with continuously tunable radiation frequency

Journal Article · · Sov. J. Opt. Technol. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5921248
A pulsed CO/sub 2/ laser is described that employs photoionization and a mixture pressure of up to 15 atm. Continuous lasing frequency tuning is obtained within a total band of 34 cm/sup -1/ in the 900--1100 cm/sup -1/ spectral region with a radiation line width of less than 0.35 cm/sup -1/. Relationships are proposed that make it possible to select and predict the optimum parameters of the electrical circuit of a superatmospheric pressure CO/sub 2/ laser.
