Polar gas project

Confident that substantial volumes of gas await recovery in the Canadian High Arctic Islands and the Mackenzie Delta/Beaufort Sea areas, Polar Gas proposes to construct and operate a large-diameter gas pipeline from these frontier areas to existing transmission systems. The laterals linking the Arctic Islands to the mainland will require two marine crossings that pose special challenges to construction engineers. A unique ice-hole bottom-pull method coupled with seafloor 1-atm welding techniques, should permit a smooth, relatively fast pipelaying operation.
