The 3100-mile Polar Gas Project will connect southern Canadian and US markets to the major gas fields of the Mackenzie Delta and the Arctic Islands. The pipeline will ultimately deliver 3.3 billion CF/day of gas to Longlac, Ontario. Construction will involve 52 river crossings, 3 of them major. The project has developed its own ice-hole-bottom-pull marine pipelaying technique for the M'Clure Strait area - a wide channel crossing.
