Nitrated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (nitro-PAH) are among the most potent mutagens reported in the literature and within the last few years have been recognized as being emitted from many combustion sources. Within the short time since the initial recognition of nitro-PAH as a possible environmental hazard, hundreds of scientific papers describing their chemistry and biology have been published. This book focuses those papers into a practical working guide that deals with the analytical chemistry of nitro-PAH, their synthesis, and mutagenic and carcinogenic properties.
