The Alamein fractured dolomite reservoir produced more than 38% of its original oil in place through natural water drive mechanism and is expected to produce all recoverable reserves without artificial lifting or any induced energy. The study demonstrates the completion practices and production policy followed to obtain maximum recovery efficiency commensurate with practical economics. The Alamein Field is of relatively small size as compared to the known Middle East oil pools. However, the conclusions drawn from the study of this field are of great importance. This importance stems from the fact that the Alamein reservoir is a typical example of a fractured dolomitized formation producing under extremely strong water drive mechanism. The occurrence of such oil reservoirs is expected all over the Northern African Arab countries and in other areas. So far, 2 other similar fields (namely, Yidma and Razzak) have been put on production in the W. Egyptian desert.
