Electron capture decay of /sup 237/Pu, /sup 235/Np, and /sup 236/Np

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. C; (United States)
Decay schemes of 45.3-d /sup 237/Pu and 1.55 x 10/sup 5/ yr /sup 236/Np have been investigated by measuring their ..gamma.. ray and conversion electron spectra with a 5-cm/sup 2/ x 1-cm Ge detector and a cooled Si(Li) spectrometer, respectively. Intensities of ..gamma.. rays, x rays, and conversion electrons have been determined and these have been used to derive logft values for EC and ..beta../sup -/ transitions. In addition to confirming previously known level schemes in /sup 237/Np and /sup 236/U, the energies of the 4+..-->..2+ and 6+..-->..4+ transitions in the /sup 236/Pu ground state band have been determined. Relative intensities of x rays in the decay of /sup 235/Np have also been measured.
