JTEC program summary

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5904707
The report is a summary of a series of reports prepared through the Japanese technology evaluation program sponsored by the National Science Foundation. The program is currently administered by Loyola College in Maryland as the Japanese Technology Evaluation Center (JTEC). The purpose of the JTEC program is to assess research and development efforts ongoing in Japan in specific areas of technology, to compare these efforts and their results to U.S. research in the same area, and to draw conclusions regarding their impact on the economic competitiveness position of the United States over the next 10 to 15 years. As U.S. technological leadership is challenged in areas of previous dominance, such as aeronautics, space, and nuclear power, many governmental and private organizations seek to set policies that will help maintain U.S. strengths.
