Photovoltaic systems interconnection requirements from the utility perspective

The future of small power production facilities such as residential photovoltaic systems may be significantly affected by the technical requirements and associated costs of interconnecting these systems to the utility grid. Until now little effort has been devoted to understanding and resolving the technical issues of integrating photovoltaic systems to utility grids. This paper discusses the interconnection issues from the utility perspective and presents typical utility requirements for interconnection of photovoltaic systems to the utility grid.
