Interconnecting photovoltaic systems to the utility grid

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is involved in a major effort to test and further develop requirements for grid-connected photovoltaic systems. TVA is installing five utility interactive photovoltaic systems at its Energy Use Test Facility (EUTF) in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In the process of developing specifications for these photovoltaic projects, TVA has developed utility interface requirements for gridconnected photovoltaic systems. The requirements presented in this paper provide detailed specifications relating to power quality, safety, and metering that should be met prior to interconnecting photovoltaic systems to the utility grid.
