League of Women Voters Education Fund - Nuclear Waste Education Project. Final report, April 1992--April 1997
The Nuclear Waste Education Project was a five year League of Women Voters Education Fund (LWVEF) initiative that began in 1992 under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy. Designed to strengthen citizen`s ability to participate effectively in public policy discussions on nuclear waste issues, the project has provided written materials, training opportunities and grants to local and state Leagues. As key part of the project`s outreach, 13 Leagues received grants to conduct citizen education projects on civilian and defense waste management. The LWVEF also developed and disseminated educational materials and organized a national train-the-trainer workshop that enabled League members and other grassroots organizers, regulators and experts in the field of nuclear waste management to meet face to face.
