A new barium-fluoride plastic scintillator

The authors have developed BaF/sub 2/(powder)-plastic mixture (scintillator) which has a response as fast as BaF/sub 2/, crystal, wavelength of 410 +30(-20) nm and good mechanical properties. The measured energy resolution is 32% for a 661 keV photopeak. The response curves of this scintillator are obtained for proton beams of <15 MeV and for showers induced in lead by relativistic electrons.
