The biology of negative strand viruses

Book ·
OSTI ID:5878048
This book emphasizes the molecular studies in recent years, and this is reflected in the papers included in Section 1-4. This book also draws attention to the need to apply knowledge of molecular processes to widen the understanding of the interactions between negative strand viruses and the organisms which they infect. Sections 5, 6 and 7 deal with interaction with the immune system, persistence and pathogenicity, and ecology and epidemiology. It also covers the new information now emerging from the application of monoclonal antibodies and nuclei acid probes, which will ultimately lead to better control of the diseases caused by this most important group of viruses. The Contents include: preface; section 1, Virus - membrane interactions; section 2, Gene expression, transcription and; genome replication; section 3, Virus-host cell interactions; section 4, Physical studies and homologies; section 5, Interaction with the immune system; section 6, Persistence and pathologenicity; section 7, Ecology and epidemiology.
