Air pollution injury in New York vineyards

Journal Article · · Proc. Ann. Meet. N. Y. St. Hortic. Soc.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5877102
A distinctive type of injury to grape foliage has been observed in New York State since 1966. Ozone was the suspected cause, and experiments were carried out to verify the suspicion. Symptoms of fumigated leaves were identical to those exposed to ambient conditions. Ambient concentrations of ozone were in the 5-10 ppmhm range, levels which have been shown to cause damage to sensitive plants. Experiments were run to test the efficacy of benomyl sprays in controlling the effects of ozone on grapes. Significant reductions in severity were obtained. 2 references, 1 figure.
