The authors discuss the lithosphere of the Rio Grande Rift which extends from Colorado to Mexico, and from New Mexico to the Gulf of Mexico. The authors state that the geological processes occurring in the rift are a good example of how these processes have occurred over time in other areas. They discuss the anatomy of the rift, the structure of the lithosphere, and the extension of the lithosphere.
