Design development of TVA's AFBC Demonstration Plant

Conference · · Energy Technol. (Wash., D.C.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5867482
The 160-MW atmospheric fluidized-bed combustion (AFBC) boiler Demonstration Plant will join the 20 MW pilot plant in a continuing program to promote the commercialization of AFBC technology for the utility industry. Joint testing by the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Electric Power Research Institute continues to evaluate performance of large-scale AFBC components and systems, load control approaches, and coal-feeding methods at the pilot plant. The larger demonstration unit will start up in 1988, and will operate in a controlled test program intended to fully commercialize the technology. 7 figures, 1 table.
