These proceedings represent papers presented at the Applied Nonlinear Dynamics and Stochastic Systems conference held in San Diego, California in July 1997. The conference emphasized the applications of nonlinear dynamical systems theory in fields as diverse as neuroscience and biomedical engineering, fluid dynamics, chaos control, nonlinear signal/image processing, stochastic resonance, devices and nonlinear dynamics in socio{minus}economic systems.
