Placid Oil's pig launcher is designed for subsea locations

Placid Oil Co.'s subsea production system, in a 1,540-ft water depth, requires a pig launching configuration that allows subsea positioning and launching of as many as six pipe line spheres. The systems, for a 20-in. gas line and a 16-in. crude line, use a combination of standard above-the-ground launching technology and subsea connection techniques.
