Analysis of PPVP thin films by FTIR spectroscopy

Thin polymer films deposited in an ac electrical discharge are prepared with 2-vinylpyridine monomer. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis was demonstrated as a useful technique for the characterization of glow discharged polymerized 2-vinylpyridine thin films (3000 to 40,000 A) deposited on smooth substrates.
