Statoil making progress on many fronts

Statoil is busy with three Gullfaks field concrete platforms, major successes north of the 62nd parallel, and final stages of a giant Statpipe wet and dry gas gathering system. As Sleipner plans fell through in February, the third concrete platform for Gullfaks Phase 2 was brought forward and submitted to the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy for approval. Total investment in Phase 2 is NKr 19 billion, including platform and subsea wells. If development is approved, the field should be on stream in 1990 producing reserves of 64 million metric tons of oil and 9 billion cu meters of gas, all from 217 meters of water. That would be the deepest production known off Norway. With water injection, production capacity should be 12 million metric tons/year.
