The National Acid Deposition Control Act of 1985 (H.R. 1414) amends the Clean Air Act by adding a new section which would reduce sulfur dioxide emissions from power plants and other stationary pollutant sources by 10 million tons below 1980 levels. S.734: a bill to implementation will be through state programs in the 48 contiguous states, each of which will be responsible for a share of the 10 million ton reduction. The bill also provides for tighter standards of nitrogen oxide emissions from both stationary and mobile pollution sources.
