Acid rain in Texas' energy future

The purposes of this paper are twofold: (1) to support the belief that Texas lignite will be a substitute fuel for petroleum and natural gas - currently the mainstays of the Texas electric power-generating industry - and (2) to demonstrate that acid rain may result from the use of Texas lignite for power generation under existing federal and state air pollution standards.
