Air-fuel ratio control system for an internal combustion engine with an atmospheric pressure responsive correction operation

Patent ·
OSTI ID:5819794
This patent describes an air-fuel ratio control system for an internal combustion engine mounted on a vehicle, comprising: an oxygen concentration sensor disposed in the exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine and producing an output signal whose level increases and decreases generally in proportion to an oxygen concentration of the exhaust gas flowing through the exhaust passage; atmospheric pressure detecting means for detecting the atmospheric pressure exerted on the vehicle; target air-fuel ratio determining means for determining a target air-fuel ratio in accordance with preselected operational parameters of the engine, and for correcting the target air-fuel ratio in accordance with the detected atmospheric pressure; comparing means for comparing the level of the output signal of the oxygen concentration sensor with the corrected target air-fuel ratio; and feedback means for controlling the air-fuel ratio of an air-fuel mixture to be supplied to the engine in response to the result of the comparison by the comparing means toward the corrected target air-fuel ratio.
