Measurement of the Wolfenstein parameters for proton-proton and proton-neutron scattering at 500 MeV

Using liquid hydrogen and liquid deuterium targets respectively, forward angle (10/sup 0/ to 60/sup 0/ in the center of Mass) free proton-proton and quasielastic proton-proton and proton-neutron triple scattering data at 500 MeV were obtained using the high resolution spectrometer at the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility. The data are in reasonable agreement with recent predictions from phase shift analyses, indicating that the proton-nucleon scattering amplitudes are fairly well determined at 500 MeV.
