Outline of plan for advanced reheat gas turbine

Conference · · J. Eng. Power; (United States)

State-of-the-art on the development of a high efficiency, combined cycle, reheat gas turbine plant in Japan are discussed. The design incorporates jet engine technology for a high pressure (HP) turbine at 1,300 C and 55 kg/sq cm and a low pressure (LP) turbine and compressor connected directly to the generator and operating at 1,200 C. An intermediate pressure turbine is interposed between the HP and LP systems to control the reheat temperature, having an inlet at 750 C and outlet at 1,200 C. An evaporative cooler at the exit improves performance, enhances thermal efficiency, and reduces NO(x) generation in the combustor. Schematics and flow and power efficiency diagrams are provided, and an overall efficiency of 55% is projected.
