Bulk hydrogen storage using metal hydrides

Conference ·
OSTI ID:5818776

The considerations involved in design and use of a process unit, or reservoir, for storing bulk quantities of hydrogen via solid particles of titanium-iron-manganese (TiFe/sub 0/./sub 9/Mn/sub 0/./sub 1/H/sub x/) are described along with several applications. Also included are one style of reservoir having improved design features, and the service system in which it was installed for testing. The reservoir has a nominal storage capacity of 50 lb (23 kg) of hydrogen and is rated for hydrogen charging and discharging times in the 5 to 10-hour range. Results of a limited test program will be provided in a summary report.
