Conductors energized at the world's highest voltage, are aglow with corona at General Electric's Project EHV. Corona, a discharge of electricity is emitted because the three single conductors are arranged for a transmission of 460 kV, but are being energized at the new world high of approximately three quarters of a million volts. Conductors coming into the transmission tower from upper right are without corona because they are bundled in groups of four - the proper arrangement for transmissions up to 750 kV. Later, all conductors will be arranged in this manner.
