Update: growth of the US asphalt import market

Journal Article · · Energy Detente; (United States)
OSTI ID:5810300
US asphalt consumption in 1984 was about 6% lower than it was in 1980, but imports have increased by 56.1%. Contraction of the US refining industry and the trend to maximize light products yield at the expense of heavy is the reason. This has opened a market niche for remaining domestic asphalt plants and for a growing number of foreign contenders. This issue also presents data on the following: (1) Venezuela's refined petroleum product export prices; (2) refining netback data from the US Gulf and West Coasts, Rotterdam, and Singapore; and (3) fuel price/tax series and principal industrial fuel prices for May 1985 for countries of the Eastern Hemisphere.
