Activity remains nearly constant in Brunei with 23 wells drilled in 1990 compared to 21 in 1989 and 24 forecast this year. Elf Aquitaine ran 3-D seismic surveys on the Perdana, Maharaja and Lela structures. The company's Jamalulalam 1 , drilled to about 13,000 ft, tested oil and gas, and Elf has since confirmed that it is a commercial discovery. This paper reports that Brunei Shell produced an average of 152,000 bopd last year from Seria/Rasau oil fields onshore and from SW Amnpa, Fairley, Champion and Magpie fields offshore. Current production averages 138,985 bopd and 805 MMcfgd. The company continued drilling appraisal and development wells in both Champion and Rasau fields.
