A polycrystalline molybdenum target partially covered with cesium and hydrogen is bombarded with Cs/sup +/ ions in the energy range 150 to 1000 eV. The work function of the target is continuously monitored. Sputtering yields of H/sup -/ ions and electrons are measured as function of Cs/sup +/ ion energy, target workfunction and hydrogen pressure.
