Radiation-optical properties of quartz glass doped with cerium

The optical properties of quartz glass with cerium additives with pulsed electron radiation and steady-state ..gamma..-radiation at different temperatures were comparatively investigated. Irradiation with electron pulses was conducted on a U-12 linear accelerator. The samples were irradiated with /sup 60/Co ..gamma..-rays in a special Dewar flask in which the optical spectra of the preparations were then recorded at the irradiation temperature. The spectra were recorded on a Hitachi EPS-3T spectrophotometer. KV quartz glass and quartz glass doped with cerium in the trivalent and tetravalent states were investigated.
