Analysis of radiative transitions in a zinc sulfide F/sup +/-center on the basis of a configuration curve model

The authors construct and refine a model of the radiative transitions and photoluminescence of f centers in zinc sulfides annealed in a sulfur vapor. The f centers result from the ionization and electron capture of sulfur vacancies. The radiation in the green band is caused by impurity electron transitions in the donor-acceptor pairs distributed over the interatomic spacing. Additional refinements to the model are made by photoconductivity and thermoluminescence measurements.
