Double diffractive dissociation of nucleons in the reaction NN. -->. (N. pi. ) (N. pi. )

Double diffractive dissociation NN..-->.. (N..pi..)+(N..pi..) in the region of small masses of the nucleon-pion system is studied within the framework of complex angular momentum theory and the one-particle exchange model. The nucleon spin, rescattering effects, and the contributions from non-vacuum trajectories are taken into account. The absence of factorization in the behavior of the differential cross section dsigma/dt in the region vertical-bartvertical-bar> or =0.06 (GeV/c)/sup 2/ is predicted.
