Mining is a tough business

Making a profit from hard rock, coal, or aggregate requires top performance from primary production equipment-the machines that dig and load raw material. Today's mine operators need equipment that is tougher than the dirt and rock they dig and fast enough to fill high production demands. Choosing the right machine for the job is more important than ever. A growing number of operators are narrowing that choice to hydraulic excavators or wheel loaders. Although no single machine is perfect for every digging task, hydraulic excavators offer a combination of productivity and versatility unmatched by other equipment types. In most mining environments, the excavator's inherent advantages over wheel loaders higher breakout force, quicker loading cycle times and better mobility over rough ground, for example have been expanded by recent improvements that boost reliability and operating economy.
