Separator system and process for gas conditioning solutions
An apparatus is described for separating hydrocarbon oils from a gas conditioning process liquid consisting of: an elongated generally cylindrical pressure vessel adapted to be disposed such that its longitudinal central axis extends substantially horizontally, a feedstream inlet conduit for introducing a mixture of oil dispersed in a gas conditioning liquid into one end of the vessel, a settling compartment formed in the vessel extending toward an oil overflow weir in the vessel, conduit means for conducting liquid separated from the oil from the vessel, and means for controlling the settling of the mixture in the vessel sufficient to separate substantially all of the oil from the liquid including spaced apart baffle means in the settling compartment. The baffle means is positioned and arranged so as to substantially eliminate turbulent and vertically downward flow of the mixture while providing for continuous through flow of the mixture toward the oil overflow weir. The baffle means consists of a set of vertically extending plates spaced apart in the settling compartment along the central axis. The plates are configured such that alternate ones of the plates define a peripheral slot extending along and between each of the ones of the plates and a wall of the vessel defining the settling compartment, each of the slots extending at least from an edge of the ones of the plates toward the bottom of the settling compartment to provide for generally horizontal laminar stratified flow of the liquid through the settling compartment.
